Education is the gateway to success, but not everybody gets an opportunity to avail education. Thousands of children still do not get the opportunity to receive education. All they need is a man like Rajesh Kumar Sharma who teaches underprivileged children below a Metro bridge.
Rajesh Kumar Sharma is the founder of the school who owns a general store, located 5 km away from the place. The free school has a torn rug to sit on, a black painted wall used as a blackboard, a metro bridge being the roof and a shopkeeper being the teacher himself. This is the reality of the children hailing from villages situated near the Yamuna bank. Around 200 kids attend the school from the nearby slum areas. The children are taught to write, read the basics of English, Science, Mathematics, Hindi, Geography and History.
It is after every three minutes that a speeding metro rail kicks up the din; but the children seated below beneath the elevated tracks remain unperturbed. One could see nothing but clear determination and focus on the faces of the children so much so as not be distracted by any noise in the surroundings.
The school is located on the railway land and it does not have any building. Children sit on mats on the ground and teachers sit on wooden and plastic chairs. There are a few trunk boxes arranged to keep the school records and attendance registers. The boundary wall has been coated with black paint that makes up for the black boards.
This initially started when Sharma had visited the place to view the ongoing metro railway work. This is where he came across children who were seen loitering around and did not go to school. This initiated him to speak to parents of the children who requested him to teach them.
We appreciate the hard work put in by Sharma to provide education to children. We thereby feel that the school deserves a proper infrastructure and other necessities to run in a concise manner.
To raise funds and build proper infrastructure for the school. A well-built infrastructure and proper hygiene conditions is the need of the hour.
Why contribute for this cause?
Education is the birth right of all. Hence, the initiative taken by Rajesh Kumar Sharma is something that brings in pride for all. Such instances need to be appreciated and supported.
A classroom helps young minds to grow and prosper. The support provided makes way for better infrastructure that enables children to study in a proper hygienic environment.
Donating will make you a part of something bigger. This is because your donation becomes a big part in somebody else’s life. A small donation eventually makes a big difference in others’ life.
The world would have been an empty place without education. It is our responsibility to motivate such initiatives and make sure that the children get a better place to study and build their future. So come forward and donate.
